You WILL be getting an email the week before the tour with maps and more information (time, parking, etc).

In the meantime, here are a few FAQs:

Q: How does this work?
A: The feeder tour provides registrants with access to host backyard feeders on August 30. Hosts will provide information on their feeder set up, types of food they have had success with, best practices for backyard bird feeding and more.  You can visit as many or as few of the sites as you wish on your schedule. We will email you the addresses of host yards, hours they will be accessible and helpful information about each site the week of the tour.

Q: Where are the feeder sites?
A: Feeders are located at homes throughout Grant County, either in Silver City or within about 30 minutes of town.

Q: What birds will I see?
A: We have timed the feeder tour to coincide with peak hummingbird migration, and several yards should have an abundance of hummers! You will also get a chance to see many of our resident birds, such as spotted towhees, bridled titmouse, acorn woodpeckers, black-headed grosbeak, house finch, bullock’s oriole and many more. You may even spot a few migratory species heading south for the winter.

Q: What are visiting hours?
A: Visiting hours vary from site to site, and will be provided beginning the first week of August.  Please review this carefully and respect our hosts instructions and availability. Please do not visit outside of designated times.

Q: Anything else I need to know?
A: All yards will have places for guests to sit and view birds, as well as binoculars for you to borrow if needed. Please be sure to bring plenty of water and snacks.
