Bear Creek Nature Preserve Outing

  • Southwest Sufi Community Avery Ranch Rd Silver City United States (map)

Join Kim Score for a trip to Grant County’s newest birding hotspot, the Voice of the Turtle Retreat Center, located 1 hour NW of Silver City off LS Mesa. With 150 species already logged, this beautiful 1,400-acre nature preserve comprises a variety of habitats from deciduous riparian to pinyon-juniper, oak woodland and desert scrub. We will be birding along the wild corridor of Bear Creek, which attracts numerous breeding birds and migrating species.

Participants will be walking 2 miles off trail over uneven terrain. Bring your binoculars and hiking shoes (and a camera if you like), along with water, snacks and lunch. We will eat lunch together on site under a covered patio overlooking the creek.

Space is limited to 15 people! Please RSVP to Kim Score at firefinch@usa.net.

Interested in carpooling? Meet at the WNMU Fine Arts Center parking lot at 6 am sharp!
