After postponing due to weather last fall, The Big Sit is back on! The Big Sit is a light-hearted birding competition started by the New Haven Bird Club that is now an international event.

The goal of the competition is to identify as many birds as we can within a 17-foot diameter circle, and the Iron Bridge across the Gila River is an excellent vantage point to view species up and down the river. This event is low-mobility accessible, and binoculars are available to borrow.

Directions: Take US-180 W, 25 mi west of Silver City. Turn south onto Iron Bridge Road (just past the Gila River) for 1⁄2 mile. Park in the dirt pull-off on the road leading to the bridge. Limited parking; ride-sharing encouraged!
