City Nature Challenge: San Vicente Trail Bird Outing

  • Hwy 90/Hudson St. Bridge Trailhead Silver City, NM (map)

tweet-tu-tu-weet! Calling all birders! The Bird Alliance of Southwestern New Mexico will be leading a walk through the riparian habitat of the San Vicente Creek trail system. Participants will enjoy native speckled dace in the stream and willows along the shady banks, but the real highlight, of course, will be the birds that call this oasis home. We hope to see nesting black hawks, busy acorn woodpeckers, rowdy kingfishers, and colorful early migrants along the trail.

Accessibility: 2+-mile out and back trail. Dirt with uneven surfaces and moderately difficult slope changes. Several points on trail require water crossing via rocks. Open and shaded areas. Dogs often off leash on trail. No restrooms or drinking water available.
