Conservation is Key: Keeping up with ever-increasing threats

So many of the changes in the environment affect, not just us, but our avian neighbors. We are starting to monitor what these changes might mean to avian species and looking into more ways to do our part in protecting them. Among the issues we face here in southwestern New Mexico are: increasing fire danger, expanding desert, decreased water flows and reduced cover for wildlife.

It’s hard not to feel overwhelmed, but if each of us does a little, we can make a difference.

Our next workshop, Bird Friendly Gardens, tentatively scheduled for early October, will address ways you can help combat habitat loss, increase shelter and safety, and provide local, natural food and a water source for birds at home.

Stay tuned for more details.
