New Name, New Web Page…SAME GREAT PROJECT!

The Silver City Bird Census has a new name: The Southwestern New Mexico Bird Survey

This community science project was established to monitor bird populations long-term and track environmental changes across a variety of bird habitats in Southwestern New Mexico. We have collected data for seven months so far.

Why the name change? The word "survey" better reflects what we’re doing than the word “census”, and “Southwestern New Mexico” better represents the area we are surveying (beyond Silver City). And we even have a nickname, “Birding with Purpose.”
